USA's Rick Hofmann Named WAFF Secretary General

2 February 2010 - Rick Hofmann, Executive Director of the American Amputee Soccer Association, has been elected Secretary General of the World Amputee Football (Soccer) Federation. The Secretary General serves as the organization's Chief Operating Officer.

Hofmann was elected by a vote of National Association delegates participating in the bi-annual WAFF Congress of Members.

Also elected to the Governing Board were Ademir Cruz de Almedia, Brazil, President; Jim Frere, England, 1st Vice President; and Dr. Ivan Kiansky, Russia, 2nd Vice President.

As the new SG, Hofmann will coordinate the activities of amputee soccer's world governing body and serves as Chair of the organization's administrative Congress.

Rick is a co-founder of the WAFF and co-author of its Statutes and Laws of the Game. Prior to his election he served as the organization's Communications Director.

Himself an amputee as the result of a motorcycle accident in 1989, Rick played varsity soccer for Shippensburg State University, PA, and is a former member of the US National Amputee Soccer team.
