Battle for the Border Set for April 14

Team USA Meets Zorros de Sinaloa in Mazatlan, Mexico

Team Zorros de Sinaloa faces the USA in its first-ever international match.

Team USA looks to extend its winning streak.

30 May 2012, Mazatlan, Mexico -- It's being billed as the Battle of the Border. Team USA will face Mexico's Team Zorros de Sinaloa in the Estadio Teodoro Mariscal baseball stadium at 5:30 PM local time, Saturday, April 14. Tickets will be available the day of the match at the stadium.

The match is the brainchild of Don Bennett, who invented amputee soccer in Seattle in 1980; and former professional star Berc Zoraian, who now lives in Mazatlan. The two began forming and training Team Zorros last fall for both recreation and competition. The better Team Zorros got, the more they wanted to test their skills in international play. The Battle of the Border was a natural.

Team USA is coming off of a 2-1 win over Haiti's Team Zaryen last October in Washington, D.C. and hopes to notch another victory against a brand new Mexican team.

The U.S. roster includes amputee soccer World Cup veterans Dan Broome, Yorba Linda, CA; and Ignacio "Nacho" Medrano, of Sun Valley, CA; Emmanuel Yeboah, of San Diego, CA; Henry Sunday, of Manchester, CT; Keeper Eric Westover, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and USA Team rookies Yousef Irshaid, of Cocoa Beach, FL; Keith Mann of Plainfield, NJ; and Nicolai Calabria, of Cambridge, MA.
